The Mrs. Degree (Accidentally In Love, Book Two) by Sara Ney: Release Blitz + Double Review

Title: The Mrs. Degree
Series: Accidentally In Love, Book Two
Author: Sara Ney
Genre: Secret Baby/Second Chance Romance
Release Date: May 3, 2022

From USA TODAY Bestselling Author Sara Ney comes a new series about strong, single girls falling in love: accidentally.

I never thought I would get pregnant in college.

When I did, I thought leaving Jack Jennings was doing him a giant favor—he had a bright future ahead of him as a football star—the last thing he needed was me and a baby standing in the way of his dreams.

Honestly? I figured he would eventually forget about me.
I would raise our child in secret and watch Jack on television, and the pain of what I’d done to him would heal.
The last person I expected to see on my brother's doorstep seven years later was Jack; obviously, I wouldn’t have answered it.
A superstitious athlete, dreams were keeping him awake at night that was preventing him from excelling on the field—dreams he was hoping I could make…disappear.
He looked so good. So much older.
Kind. Handsome.
Turns out, he hadn’t forgotten about me either, and he hadn’t put our past behind him.

This is the second installment of the Accidentally in Love series. I have to say that this is the first book for me by Ms. Ney and I am HOOKED!!

Penelope is a single mother, but her ex-football star brother helps her out tremendously. Don’t get me wrong, she has a full-time job but who doesn’t need a little help every now and again? All of the sudden an ex-boyfriend shows up out of the blue at her brother’s house.

Jack is a professional football player and you guessed it, the one at the brother’s door. He keeps having bad dreams about Penelope and low and behold ... he’s superstitious, so he’s trying to see her to ease his mind and make some gains on the football field. Will Penelope agree to meet?

The book was great, and I was sucked IN!! I loved the characters, especially Skipper aka, Penelope’s daughter. She was the cutest little thing! The story was sweet but a little predictable. Either way, I enjoyed every second of it.

This is book 2 in a series and full disclosure, I did not read the first book. So, all the characters were new to me. I felt it stood alone pretty well but I would recommend reading book 1 first.

Book 1 was the story about Davis and how he meets and falls for his girlfriend, Juliet. In book 2 we get more of Davis and Juliet as Davis' sister, Penelope lives next door to Davis and he watches her daughter a lot.

When Penelope opens the door at her brother's house and finds her ex, Jack, standing there, they are both surprised. He came to find out from Davis what happened to Penelope years before when she just disappeared after college. This was a wonderful second chance at romance and a surprise twist of who is the baby daddy to Penelope's beautiful daughter named Harper, whose nickname is Skipper.

It's also a coming-of-age romance as Penelope has some growing up and growing into herself at the start of this story. She is a great mom, but she also relies on her almost parent kind of brother a lot. Watching her face the music instead of running away and growing up as she faces Jack with the truth and her brother is amazing.

Her brother is blunt and tells her the truth no matter what and it's exactly what she needs. Jack loves her so much he will face her truth and her immaturity to bring out the best of them as individual people and as a couple.

Highly Recommend!
