Blurb:
The genius and the sunshine girl. As children, we fought bitterly and often, bickering every chance we got.
But then we grew up.
Then we came back.
Delphine Dansey carries her heart on the outside of her body; she’s looking for love and chasing dreams. She’s spoiled and selfish, the kind of beautiful that’s made for money and fame. But somehow she’s ended up in my keeping: a pretty submissive I can’t seem to resist, a lover who obsesses and tempts me.
I thought I’d locked my heart away a long time ago, along with all my other weaknesses. But some doors won't stay closed, no matter how hard I fight to keep them shut. She unravels me, just like our friends are unraveling, just like Thornchapel itself is unraveling.
All year long, we’ve been sowing lust and jealousy and pain, heedless of the consequences. But a harvest is inevitable, and so now we must reap our sorrows.
And our sighs.
*Harvest of Sighs is Book Three in the Thornchapel series.*
Whew child, where do I start?
I just picked my heart up off the floor so I'm ready to write this now.
This book focuses on Delphine and Rebecca from our favorite group in Thornchapel.
Rebecca has a hard time with emotions. Whether it be, showing them, understanding them or explaining them. She grew up in a cold environment shrouded by religion, hard work and tradition. While Delphine has no such qualms. Maybe more than a little insecure, but a heart that's open and willing. They are perfect together in a D/s relationship but struggle with the everyday. They have some hurdles to jump but the biggest one is Admittance for Rebecca and self acceptance for Delph.
I do love that we get to see and hear more from the parents in this book. I wanted a big ol' juicy tell all from their days at Thornchapel, we kind of get it, but I wouldn't mind a little novella just all about them and what they did that fateful summer.
We also are back with our favorite throuple, Poe, Auden and Saint. When we last saw them they were in the throes of turmoil and it didn't look good. I'm not gonna tell if we got a resolution or not, but it was DEEP!! I think Delphines' parents know something and I can't wait to find out what it is. I love how hard Auden tries to be what everyone needs even at his own detriment.
Ahhhh good ol' Beckett. I just love him. I really do. He may be my favorite. This book brought along with it some grief. I wish he would've stayed or listened to Poe from the beginning. I screamed at him so loud.
This book made me laugh, cry, and there were many parts that conjured my own chorus of sighs (Father >:@), but by the end I was holding my breath.
I may riot. I haven't decided yet... I only just put my heart back in my chest.
Like all SS books, this is riveting, sexy and smart. I love that I also learn while reading her books. I don't KNOW I'm learning because I'm so engrossed with the story line. The beautiful imagery she is able to paint in my brain with her words are magical and uniquely her.
Amazing read. I recommend it to all.
They have to be read in order though.
I wish I would've waited until they all were out before reading so I wouldn't have to go through all this emotional turmoil while I wait for the conclusion, but our mistress is into denial, and prolonging our emotional releases it seems. I'm a masochists after all I guess. k
Please madam may I have another???
