Ho-ly Hell!!!! Damn and whatever other words.....just all of them. These books....my god Lauren.....for real?
I often wonder how authors come up with their stories. Some authors flat out scare me and I may run from them if I ever came across them. Some are sweet and some are rough, but Lauren is a mix of all of these. Although I have met her so I didn't run. However, truth be told, when I met her (RARAE) I hadn't read her books. That's the benefit of going to author events.....meeting Ahh-mazing new authors.
But I digress....lets get back to these books! Just wow! Now let me tell you that if you have read Lauren's books you would know that she can be pretty dark and demented. Downright dirty and nasty. So...basically she's freaking amazing!!! For real!!! Read everything she writes you won't be sorry. I even think her grocery list would be crazily exciting!
But these books seem a bit different. It's kinda dark? I mean it's cartel and mafia....Mexicans and Russians.....so it does have that gritty quality. It's disturbing in a she-was-a-legit-caged-whore-for-9-years thing. It's got family danger....her sister is a trained-from-childhood-paid-killer. However, it's so incredibly sweet and has this rare sprinkling of hope that shines throughout this book.
I could really go on and on and on about how amazing this book is. From the story and characters to the way Lauren guides and manipulates your mind and heart at the same time. But really this book is an experience that needs to be read to be understood.
I firmly believe that really great authors put their entire beings into their work - and Lauren is definitely one of those authors!!!
