He’s wanted her since he
repossessed her car and made her cry.
Baylor Hail knew two things. One,
he hated crying females. Two, it was even worse when he was the one to make
that female cry.
He never meant to do anything but
his job, but when one thing leads to another, suddenly all he can think about
is the broken woman whose car he towed.
She’s wanted him since he patted
her back and told her it was okay to cry even though she knew he was lying.
Nothing ever goes right for Lark.
Not when she got married. Not when
she tried to leave her abusive husband, and not when she arrived in a new town
with a fresh, clean slate.
That clean slate came courtesy of
a secret organization that specializes in helping abused women find a way out.
They set her up with a whole new life. It just turns out that it happened to be
right smack dab in the middle of another woman’s old one.
That woman also happens to be down
on her luck, something that Lark learns the hard way when on her first day
there, her car is towed by a handsome stranger.
It’s been two years since she’s
felt any kind of sexual attraction toward a man, and she reacts badly. We’re
talking full-on, hysterical breakdown as he loads her car onto his tow truck
while looking at her like she’s lost it.
Maybe being crazy isn’t all that
bad.
The next thing she knows, she’s
spending time with the sexy stranger and life couldn’t be better—even though
she still doesn’t have a car.
She thinks she’s in the clear,
that she’s got it all figured out… well, that is until her ex-husband finds her
again.
Now the ball is in her sexy
stranger’s court as he decides whether or not her kind of crazy is worth
getting killed over.
Turns out, for Baylor Hail, maybe
it is.
What can I say about What the Hail?
This is one very fast-paced love story, for sure!! When two sets of eyes
connect, the attraction is undeniable!
Baylor is a man who knows what he
wants in life. A tow truck driver, who repossesses vehicles, no matter the
situation. You don’t pay your car note? Too bad, so sad. But the day that he
picked up Lark’s was the day that his life changed. Baylor didn’t feel sorry at
first, but she just kept appearing. Why was she always around and why did
trouble always seem to find her? Lark was drop dead gorgeous and his little man
downstairs even knew it. Before long, there wasn’t a thing he wouldn’t do to
protect her.
Lark was running. She was running
from her POS cop ex-husband. Lark was careful not to slip up, so that she wouldn't be found. Unfortunately, her “cover man” had it out for her. It didn’t matter what
she did, Harold made sure to make her pay for it. The wrong thing to do was to
cross him, but Lark and Baylor had enough. Was that the wrong thing to do??
The chemistry between these two is insurmountable. It’s like their parts know they fit together. Their hearts beat
in tune. What the Hail shows us that when you find your soul mate, it doesn’t
matter how long it’s been. You just know it’s right! As always, Lani’s writing
is on point and pulls at our heart strings. Another top 2017 read!!
There
hasn’t been a book by Ms Vale that I didn’t love and What the Hail is on top of
my favorites list thus far. I’m still amazed by the crazy scenarios, like where
the heck does she come up with this stuff! This book was a faced paced wild
ride that grabbed my attention from the get go.
Baylor
is just trying to get through life. He repossesses cars for a living with his
brothers. It isn’t until one repo that he felt happy with his life.
Lark
is just a hot mess. Seems nothing goes right for her and the hits just keep
coming. When her car gets repo’d she absolutely loses it. I mean, in that
situation I think I would too.
The
thing is, neither of these two can get the other out of their minds. Baylor
sneaks his way into Lark’s life and all is great until what Lark is running
from finds her. Will Baylor stick around or back out?
Whew, this was an amazing read. I loved every
second of the book. Baylor and Lark has wiggled their way into my favorite
couple category! I can never get enough of Lani’s writing though. Her books absolutely
fascinate me and there is never a dull moment.
