Ghost [gohst] noun: the soul of
a dead person, a disembodied, vague, shadowy spirit wandering among or haunting
living persons; a mere shadow or semblance; a trace.
That noun sums up Ghost and what his life has become with painful
precision. He is barely living, merely
existing but never thriving. There wasn’t much that could pull him from the
darkness he willingly inhabits…except one thing. Her.
She is the reason he’s done what he’s done, and his life has become
what it has become.
He haunts his former life, lurking in the background, surviving on
occasional glimpses of the only thing good that is left in his miserable life.
The horror he has inflicted upon her is nothing compared to the terror that
waits for her when someone moves in to take her from him.
The thing about being stuck in the past is that it is like walking
through life backwards. She is always looking back, so she doesn’t see what is
happening in front of her. Unfortunately for her, it turns out that the ghosts
of the past aren’t nearly as terrifying as the monsters of the future.
They say that true love is like a ghost, something that many talk
about but few have seen. It’s a good thing for that, too, because he’ll need
that element of surprise to protect her. Hopefully when the dust settles, he’ll
be able to resurrect more than just himself.
When you find and then lose your forever love, what would you
do to get them back? Wish, hope, pray … make a deal with the devil himself? That
is exactly what Ghost and his woman were faced with.
When Ghost’s baby girl was being
used as a pawn in a sick game of “baby dearest”, he knew that he had to do
whatever he could, to ensure her safety. Not only did he leave to protect his
family, but upon his return, he had to make sure that they all understood exactly
why. After the love birds heart warming reunion, Ghost still had to remain under wraps
as his adversaries were not finished. He and the Dixie Wardens needed to take
down the scumbags that tore him away from his wife and daughter. Will his love welcome him back with open arms, or is she so hurt that she just pushes him away?
Lani continues to amaze me with
her raw, unadulterated talent. I swear that each book gets better and better.
We have all waited so long to find out who the beloved Ghost was and man was
that a great reveal! Please be sure to grab your copy of Beard Up and fall in
love with Ghost, all over again.
Would
you give up everything to ensure your family’s safety? And I mean EVERYTHING!!
Thankfully, I’ve never had to make that decision. Ghost on the other hand has
been dealt the most grueling hand in life and has to make that devastating choice.
Is it really a choice if it’s your life and everything in it that you hold
dear?
Ghost,
beautiful Ghost…how amazing it was to finally have his story in my hands. My
jaw dropped, my heart broke, my veins pumped with venom and my heart swelled
with love all in one book. I was so invested in this book (I mean who isn’t?)
that I didn’t say one word to my family until I was finished. This book absolutely
blew my mind. BOOM! I’m still in Lani Land and can’t seem to shake the feels
from this story. I honestly can’t put into words what this book entails and it’s
really hard not to. I want to shout it off of the rooftop but I don’t want to
spoil the secrets at the same time. I’d be SO mad to read a spoiler about the
most anticipated character of ALL time! So please, just get the book…read it
and if you want to talk about it, hit me up! I could go on and on about our
boy.
