"I don’t say this a lot but seriously I think this is one of my favorite reads of 2016!! The storyline had me addicted and the characters story was electric!!" ~Alpha Book Club
“...a fantastic debut that kept me turning the pages and wanting to know what was going to happen to these two characters that had stolen a little piece of my heart.” ~Tamara (Goodreads Review)
This is the quintessential story of a spoiled rock star and his attempt to rise above. He has to rise above his manager, his band-mate and his ego; which may be the toughest thing to rise above.
Reece is a rock star and he lives up to the name. Sleeping around with lots of women, leaving a trail of broken hearts panties behind him. He's been best friends with his band-mate Sean for a long time and Reece's world is rocked by the sudden disappearance of Sean. Now assets frozen he is broke, alone and confused.
This story has several layers. I at first felt bad for Reece because even though he was a bad boy, he deserved better than what he got. Then I laughed so much because poor him was not adult-ing properly. To say he was NOT domesticated would be an understatement.
He wasn't stranded for long though, the maybe not friendly but helpful store clerk Madelyn was there to help him.
She really couldn't come at a more appropriate time either. Lets just say, there was underwear in the dishwasher and a foul bathroom.
She helped him out but every time he advance on her she held him back. Madelyn had some secrets of her own.
Running from her past, scared of his future; these two will find what heals them both is love.
By the end of the book, I had also felt angry. surprised and finally happy. This roller coaster of emotions takes you on a journey of redemption, of courage and of standing up for yourself and those you love.
I gave this book a 4.5 because its awesome, written well, funny and real. The only thing missing is more sex.
Josephine Traynor is very good at keeping secrets - she’s been a closeted writer for years, but only got brave enough last year to show her writer friend a small chunk of what she’d written. She’s a mother of two small boys and only told her husband about her book when it was completed. God knows what he thought she was doing on the computer for all those hours! Josephine’s a lover of tea and has a thing for all things that smell like vanilla. She loves a good book that makes her laugh and has heaps of character growth. Her aim is to write books that inspire, cause sore stomach muscles and have memorable characters for all the right reasons. Josephine Traynor is not her real name. The pen name is derived from Josephine being her favourite girls name and Traynor is inspired by Will Traynor from Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. His message from that book was for everyone to be brave in this world and to make their mark. This was a huge lesson for her to get over her fear of publishing. She’s doing this for her, her dream is to be a published author, what’s your dream and go after it.
